The design is intended to integrate with the landscape capturing views and breezes, enclosin courtyards, and connecting the indoors with the outdoors. Materials are simple and solid: West Texas fieldstone, Douglas fir structural elements and windows, cypress siding, plaster walls, walnut foors and cabinets and a copper roof. The overall impression is one of "rugged sophistication," a term the clients used to communicate the character of the house they wanted to build.
